Aluminum Oxide 5 micron (1000 grit)

Aluminum Oxide 5 micron (1000 grit)

Aluminum Oxide is a hard, rounded material primarily used for fine grinding. It typically does not fracture into smaller pieces in use. It's more rounded particle shape make it less aggressive, so it grinds more slowly but leaves a smoother surface on the glass. It comes in white color. White Fused Aluminum Oxide is a high purity fused aluminum oxide.  It achieves its white color as it is lower in impurities than brown or pink fused aluminum oxide.  It typically has higher friability than brown fused aluminum oxide.  With a Mohs hardness of 9, Aluminum Oxide is a high strength, wear-resistant material possessing a strong ability to resist vigorous chemical attacks (such as acid and alkali) at extreme temperatures.   Its high degree of refractoriness, along with its superior electrical insulating properties, dielectric properties, and high melting point make White Fused Aluminum Oxide a desirable material choice for a diverse range of applications.  It's an important mineral with chemical and high temperature stability, great purity, hardness and fireproof and refractory characters. White fused alumina is one of the most widely used raw materials for so many industrial fields, including refractory, bonded abrasives and coated abrasives industries.
